Jacqueline, what a great idea! I usually only write letters to my husband to get my feelings out when i am upset about something that I am trying to decide if it is worth bringing up. I refer to it as venting on paper. I hold onto the letter for a week and if its still bothering me we will sit down and talk about it. But letters during times of joy are such a good idea. what a positive way to twist that habit !
